Day 1 Departure

Depart for Mumbai, India arriving the following evening.

Day 2 Mumbai

Meet your private driver and transfer to your centrally located hotel for check-in and a much-deserved night's rest. Mumbai is a vibrant and bustling city with splendid colonial architecture, towering buildings, and palatial mansions. It is also a city of paradoxes. Renowned as the country's modern financial, business and entertainment nerve center, it is also a city steeped in tradition with a rich historical past.

Day 3 Mumbai

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then meet your English-speaking guide and depart on an exploration of the city. Begin with a short walk across the promenade to the Gateway of India, one of the city's most famous sights. Then head for the nearby Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, a beautiful Gothic Victorian landmark that is the centerpiece of the city's train network. Afterward, continue by car or on foot to Crawford Market, one of the most colorful markets in all of India. Then enjoy lunch at Trishna, known for its excellent Indian-inspired seafood. After lunch, enjoy a walking tour of a nearby district known as the Fort.

Day 4 Mumbai & Aurangabad

Begin your day with a visit to dhobi ghats, a large open-air laundry where hundreds of dhobi-wallahs vigorously thump and scrub the city's laundry. Then continue to Churchgate to see the sorting of the tin lunch boxes by dabbawalas, who deliver lunch boxes from private homes to the workforce. After your time at Churchgate, transfer back to the airport for your late afternoon flight to Aurangabad. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for check-in with the evening at leisure.

Day 5 Aurangabad

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then depart for the Ellora Caves. Located an hour north in the basaltic hills above Aurangabad, the caves of Ellora represent three different faiths. Spend as much of the day here as you like and enjoy a picnic lunch or return to the hotel for a late lunch. In the afternoon you'll visit Paithan which is famous for its Paithani sarees. Alternatively, choose to visit the Bibi Ka Maqbara which was built by Prince Azam Shah in the late 17th century as a loving tribute to his mother Dilras Bano Begam.

Day 6 Aurangabad & Udaipur

Depart on an early morning direct flight to Udaipur, known as The City of Lakes. Begin your visit with a stop at the studio and home of a Jal Sanjhi artist. Jal Sanjhi is the art of painting on water only practiced in the city of Udaipur. Afterward, enjoy lunch followed by a visit to the small atelier of a renowned leather craftsman. Then transfer to your world-famous hotel and end the day with a sunset cruise on the lake.

Day 7 Udaipur

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then meet your English-speaking guide for a morning exploration of Udaipur. A highlight of your morning will be the City Palace—a blend of stern Rajput military architecture and lavish Mughal-inspired decorative art. Continue on foot or by tuk-tuk through the old city and visit the Jagish Temple to enjoy a special blessing ceremony with a Hindu priest. Afterward, depart on a short tuk-tuk ride to Royal Repast for lunch. Return to the hotel in the afternoon for a private session with the in-house astrologer and a private session with a henna artist. Spend your evening at leisure.

Day 8 Udaipur

Embark on an excursion into the countryside surrounding Udaipur to Eklingi Shiva and Nagda temples. Adbudji Jain Temple at Nagda is famous for its interesting architectural features and a black marble statue of Shanti Nath that dates back to the 15th century. Return to the city for lunch and relax in a Sukha couple’s treatment at the hotel's award-winning Jiva Spa including a powerful Indian oil massage or other treatments of your choice.

Day 9 Udaipur & Jodhpur

Depart from Udaipur for a full day journey with stops to the Blue City of Jodhpur. This drive takes you through Rajasthan's Aravalli Hills to one of India's most spectacular, hidden treasures—the Ranakpur Jain Temple. Following the visit to the temple, enjoy lunch at the Mount Battan Lodge before continuing this journey over the green slopes of the Western Aravalli range. Arriving in Jodhpur late this afternoon to check in to your exquisite hotel.

Day 10 Jodhpur

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then meet your English-speaking guide to embark on a full-day exploration of Jodhpur starting with Mehrangarh Fort set high on a hill overlooking the city. Enter the fort through gates that bare the handprints of the women of the royal harem. The ramparts of the fort offer stunning views of the blue-painted Brahmin houses for which the city is famous. Eat lunch at the Stepwell Cafe with the remainder of the afternoon spent exploring Jodhpur's Old City. One of the most exotic and picturesque in all of Rajasthan, including Jaswant Thada, a remarkable architectural landmark located in the heart of Jodhpur. Visit Clock Tower Bazaar recognized as one of the best markets in the world.

Day 11 Jodhpur & Jaipur

Following breakfast at the hotel, depart on a drive through the fabled Jaipur-Jodhpur Highway, a modern recreation of the ancient road where armies and ancient treasures made their way across the vast Thar Desert. Arriving in Jaipur late this afternoon, proceed to your centrally located luxury palace hotel.

Day 12 Jaipur

Embark on an excursion to Jaipur's Amber Fort, which was built high atop a hillside overlooking Maota Lake. Spend the morning exploring the gardens, halls of public and private audience, and labyrinth of passages leading to the royal apartments buried deep within the fort. After exploring the fort, continue to nearby Dera Amer and the estate of a well-known textile family located in the foothills of the tranquil Aravalli Hills. Interact with the resident rescued elephants with an opportunity to bath Laxmi and Rangmala. Enjoy a lunch repast of Rajasthani specialties then return to the city and end your day with a special experience exploring the markets and bazaars of Jaipur's Old City. Experience the medieval mystique of the walled city in custom-designed, eco-friendly electric rickshaws driven by smart, enthusiastic women.

Day 13 Jaipur

Begin your day with a visit to Jaipur's City Palace, an exquisite complex of palaces, gardens, and courtyards. Your visit will include sections of the palace that are not usually open to the public. Next, visit the world-renowned Jantar Mantar or Astronomical Observatory. Based on astronomical treatise from Hindu texts, the Muslim world, and both ancient and modern Europe—this massive stone observatory is still functional and extraordinarily accurate. Enjoy lunch at Baradari followed by a visit to Hawa Mahal palace. Not to be missed are Jaipur's respected jewelry shops where it may be possible to schedule private appointments for those interested.

Day 14 Jaipur & Ajabgarh

After breakfast drive to Bhangarh to explore the magnificently preserved Moghul-Hindu princely city. Built in 1631 and still uninhabited, this city of fabulous bazaars, palaces, gardens, temples, and bathing pools stands as a perfect memento to 17th century India. In the afternoon check in to your beautiful resort with the remainder of the day at leisure. Enjoy dinner this evening at your resort.

Day 15 Ajabgarh

Day 16 Ajabgarh & Agra

Following breakfast, depart Ajabgarh on a drive to Agra—home to the incomparable Taj Mahal—stopping ninety minutes into the journey at Abhaneri to visit the Chand Baori Stepwell. Stop for lunch in Bharatpur, either at Laxmi Vilas Palace or The Bagh, about an hour outside of Agra. Check in to your hotel upon arrival in Agra then bask in a sunset visit to the Taj Mahal. Though it appears to be amazingly perfect from almost any angle, it is the close-up marble inlay work that is truly astounding. Return to the hotel and spend your evening at leisure.

Day 17 Agra

Depart on a full-day exploration of Agra. Begin your day with a visit to the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah, often referred to as the Baby Taj. Next, visit the workshop of one of Agra’s most well-known marble and inlay craftsman. Afterward, return to the Oberoi Amarvilas for lunch. Attend a specially planned heritage walk of Agra beginning at the Agra Fort Railway Station. Explore the Spice Market of Rawat Para, with its elaborately decorated façade, before proceeding into the Namak Ki Mandi, where artisans beat gold and silver into a foil for Ayurvedic medicinal use. Your walking tour ends at the Akbari Mosque and the ancient Kinari Bazaar.

Day 18 Agra & Delhi

In the morning, enjoy a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal when there are normally far fewer visitors and will provide a different experience from your first visit. Depart to Delhi and check in to the hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 19 Delhi

Following breakfast, embark on a full-day exploration of the Indian capital. Begin your day with a visit to one of Delhi's highest quality saree boutiques where ladies are fitted for a saree of their choosing. Explore Old Delhi and the crooked streets of Chandi Chowk, Old Delhi's colorful shopping bazaar. In addition to the assortment of stores selling jewelry, tools, and religious items, there are also numerous eateries along these bylanes that add flavor to the old market. Continue to the Sikh temple of Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, the most prominent Sikh temple in Delhi. End your day with a visit to Hauz Khaz Market and Khan Market where you'll find high-quality handicrafts and fabrics from every region of India in a pleasant open-air market setting.

Day 20 Delhi & Departure

Relish in a private morning yoga session with an expert guru. Participate in a multi-layered yoga practice involving asanas, pranayama, Dharana, and mantra chanting —with some inspiration from Indian classical dances and reiki healing. Return to the hotel and enjoy a couple’s massage then spend the remainder of the day preparing for your flight home.
