Day 1 – Mexico City

Overnight – Las Alcobas Mexico City

Our airport supervisor will greet you in the arrival hall of Mexico City Airport. You will be accompanied to your awaiting car and driver, who will transfer you to your hotel, Las Alcobas Mexico City.

Later this evening, enjoy a culinary experience in the heart of one of Mexico City´s most artistic and dynamic neighborhoods – La Roma, where a lovely four-course menu of Mex-fusion cuisine with a seasonal edge awaits you, accompanied by a special selection of wine from boutique wineries and distilleries or artisanal Mexican beer.

Day 2 – Mexico City

Overnight – Las Alcobas Mexico City

Today you will enjoy a half-day walking tour of historical Mexico City including visits to the most important sites such as the magnificent main square (Zocalo), the national palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral and an overview of the Templo Mayor from above. Your tour concludes with chocolate tasting at the Mucho Mundo Chocolate museum where you will become a chocolate expert in two hours. The Mucho Mundo Chocolate Museum is a cultural and educational institution where you will use your five senses to appreciate the delicate artisanal cacao as you sample various chocolates in its many delicious forms.

The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore Mexico City or take advantage of the services at Las Alcobas.

Day 3 – Mexico City

This full-day experience takes you on a journey of discovery through some of the best kept secrets of Teotihuacan; enjoy private access to the Atetelco workshop and the murals of Tetitla.

First you will visit Atetelco, once an active archaeological workshop which served as a strategic center of operation in 1950’s and today remains closed to the public. Accompanied by an expert archaeologist, you’ll be captivated during a one-hour, private expedition of this exclusive area. Rediscover an infinite number of ceramic artifacts, fossil remains and sequentially numbered fragments for the reconstruction of the outer wall and many other incredible treasures. You’ll also get a glimpse into the workings of the excavation by viewing the original blueprints and newspapers from the 1950’s.

Next, you will head towards the Palace of Tetitla, where you will access a restricted area closed to the general public to admire ancient mural paintings that your private archaeologist will bring to life through interpretation and knowledge. Upon completion, you will take a short drive to the Teotihuacan archaeological zone to continue with a guided tour of the site.

Time for lunch will be allocated and restaurant suggestions will be provided during the tour. Back at the hotel you will enjoy time to rest and relax on your own, before meeting your guide for your evening experience.

This evening after doors have been closed to the general public, you will have exclusive access to the museum including a visit to the Aztec, Teotihuacana and Mayan display rooms during your privately guided excursion with our expert guide.

The world renowned National Anthropology Musuem is one of the most important of its kind; at the entrance stands a huge monolithic figure identified as the rain god, Tláloc. The museum contains significant archaeological and anthropological artifacts from the pre-Columbian heritage of Mexico, such as the Piedra Del Sol (the “Stone of the Sun” or Aztec calendar stone) and the 16th-century Aztec statue of Xochipilli.

Day 4 – Mexico City

You will meet your bilingual driver in the hotel lobby for a private transfer to San Miguel de Allende en route, you will stop for a city tour of Querétaro. The Centro Histórico (Downtown area) is considered a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, and it includes the Cerro del Sangremal (Hill of Sangremal), crowned by the Convent of the Holy Cross and the flat area on the east that extends into the Cerro de las Campanas. Visit some of the many museums of the city, such as the Art Museum and Regional Museum as well as several open pedestrian streets with art galleries and lovely plazas that will take you in to the aristocracy mansions and convents that have been witness to the rich history and development of México.

After completion of your visit, you will have some free time for lunch before continuing to your hotel in San Miguel de Allende.

Day 5 – San Miguel de Allende

Your personal expert guide will meet you at your hotel to start your day exploring the colorful historic center of San Miguel de Allende. You will visit the iconic central plaza, where locals come to gather and chat under the shade of the trees before going inside San Miguel’s famous pink church (Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel) that boasts gothic-style architecture.

Next, you will visit art galleries and contemporary art studios at “La Aurora” and prepare for an experience that will allow you to observe firsthand Mexican artisans working on their art and crafts, visiting the Institute of Culture to observe the students working on their art pieces. Admire the traditional and unique process of how rugs are made using wool in the workshop of a local family’s home. And depending on time and interest you may also be able to visit the Cultural Center of Arts School, a paper mache shop and the handicap artist studio of arts and crafts. This experience will be custom designed according to availability of the artisans and based on traveler’s particular interests.

To end the experience, wrap your taste buds around San Miguel’s most well-known small-batch tequila at the home of Casa Dragones in San Miguel de Allende. You will have the chance to explore the property before discovering all about the process of making this handcrafted spirit and sampling two tequila Blanco, each paired with a canapé.

Upon completion of your visit you will be taken back to your hotel for the rest of the evening on your own at leisure.

Day 6 – San Miguel de Allende

This morning, meet your personal expert guide at your hotel and start on your journey to Guanajuato where your guide will lead you in exploring the historical center, starting with a panoramic view over the city, taking in the interesting architecture and the plethora of colors. You will stroll the streets of the city with its underground passageways heading towards to the central square, visiting churches and museums along the way. As you explore the city, its university, the Juarez Theatre and its tranquil plazas, your guide will tell you all about its rich history. Time and interest permitting you will also visit the house of muralist Diego Rivera where you will receive a special talk about his life and work. And no visit to Guanajuato is complete without passing by the narrow Alley of the Kiss, where you will learn about the love story that gives the street its name.

Upon completion of your visit you will be driven back to San Miguel de Allende, en route we will stop at Cuna de Tierra Vineyard for a privately guided tour and premium wine tasting.

Arriving at the Cuna De Tierra Vineyard, one of the best wineries in the region, you will be captivated by the beautiful landscape and modern architecture as you prepare to sample some of Mexico’s best wines and gastronomical delights. With several award-winning labels, Cuna de Tierra vineyard has been a labor of love passed down through generations. To begin the experience, you will meet the winery’s Sommelier at a private reception for a glass of wine atop the contemporary tower, admiring stunning views of the vineyards. You will then hop on a drawn carriage for a privately guided tour through the vineyards to learn about the distinct vines grown used to produce wine and how the terroir gives each wine such a special taste. Afterwards, you will visit the winemaking area and the exclusive cava, where you will enjoy your first private wine tasting of this award-winning vineyard.

For a unique and private experience that will pamper your senses, your wine tasting will take place at a special location beneath the contemporary tower. From this private venue, you will enjoy the three labels of Cuna de Tierra’s premium wine collection, accompanied by locally produced cheese, bread, olives and artisanal charcuterie.

Day 7 – San Miguel de Allende

You will be met at your hotel by your private guide and driven to your awaiting hot air balloon. From here, your experienced pilot will give you a short safety briefing before you head up into the sky. Throughout your journey over the colonial San Miguel de Allende, you’ll watch the sun rise as you glide over the streets, the houses, the treetops and the churches, getting a unique view of the city as it starts to awaken. Don’t forget your camera for this rather unique experience. Once you return to earth, you will be driven back to San Miguel for a post-flight toast and breakfast and enjoy time to rest, relax and have lunch before meeting with Chef Alicia at San Miguel’s market for your afternoon experience.

This afternoon experience starts with an excursion through San Miguel’s main food market where you’ll select from a variety of Mexican foods and herbs and gather the freshest ingredients for your meal. From the market, you’ll stop at the Cuna de Terra (local vineyard) wine shop, to select an appropriate bottle for your meal. Locally crafted beer is also available, if preferred.

Next, you will head to one of the town’s most treasured places just a half a block from El Centro to cook a meal indulging in all the aromas and tastes we gathered. The cooking class will take place in the spacious kitchen on the grounds of one of San Miguel’s best maintained ‘Apple’s Heart’ - which refers to the courtyard garden and grove found in the interiors of the mansions surrounding the Parroquia. Just half a block from the main square and with a working organic garden, the grove now has prominent home built in the 1960’s by a renowned architect, designed by Leonardo de la Canal, and is still the estate of one of San Miguel’s original families. This is where the afternoon will be spent, enjoying samples of local, typical cheeses and wines on the veranda and then going on to make salsas combining the chiles and herbs used in typical Mexican cooking. You will also learn how to make fresh tortillas and cook up several ‘guisos’ (stews) and a not-so traditional guacamole. Our preparations will culminate in a fine meal made by all in the gardens of one San Miguel’s cherished spaces.

Day 8 – San Miguel de Allende

Your private driver will meet you at your hotel in San Miguel de Allende and you will be driven to Del Bajío Airport.

Upon arrival, your private driver will meet you in the arrivals hall of Los Cabos International Airport and transfer you to One & Only Palmilla.

Start your trip in “Rancho Lengua de Buey” located in the middle of a waterless riverbed. Farm animals abound, and the collection of fossils that this family has acquired through the years of exploration of the canyons and mountain ranges is even more astonishing.

Next you will travel to the beaches located close to Cabo Pulmo where snorkeling and swimming are unparalleled experiences at Los Arbolitos. Beneath the surface of the Sea of Cortez, lies the only living coral reef in the Northern Western Hemisphere.

Day 11 – Los Cabos

Your private driver will meet you at the hotel for your private transfer to Los Cabos International Airport.
