Overview

There is much to be enjoyed with one week in Japan, and you will not miss a beat. Each day will hold something special, whether it is a sight, experience, or even a chance meeting. We will introduce you to Japan, walking you through its history and onward, giving you a great overview of this island nation.

Day 1 - Kyoto City

After arriving in Japan, you will make your way to the heart of tradition that is Kyoto. Arriving to your accommodation, you can take time to orient yourself with the travels and experiences that await you by reading the custom guidebook we will make for you. Itinerary will be tailored according to your flight schedule.

Days 2 & 3 - Kyoto City

Kyoto is the heart of all that is traditionally Japanese. It is here that you will find significant sights from the past and the most World Heritage Sites located in one city. These days will hold for you the Pavilion of Gold, tastes of Japanese culinary fundamentals, and walks through streets lined by machiya houses and frequented by geisha. One of these days will hold for you the chance to participate in a private tea ceremony led by a tea master. A taste of tea and hand-made Japanese sweets will surely help you settle into this island nation. Strolling through Kyoto, you’ll discover winding streets and unending discoveries through charming doors and small alleys.

Day 4 - Hakone

On this day you will move from the city formed by arts and fierce battles, to an area forged by fire. Hakone is a beautiful national park where you can enjoy one of the best views of Mt. Fuji, sweeping scenes from scenic ropeways, and relaxation in its natural hot springs. The area is blessed with scenes carved by volcanic activity that took place centuries ago. The same volcanic sources provide Hakone with its therapeutic hot springs today. Touched by human influence, Hakone now boasts amazing art museums, one of which enhances the landscapes with its exhibits being displayed outdoors. All of this and more will be yours to explore on this day of natural wonders, all of it coming to a grand finish with a stay at a traditional ryokan and soaks in onsen hot spring waters.

Days 5 & 6 - Tokyo

Moving from history and nature, today you take your first steps in the capital of innovation that is Tokyo. These days will be filled with the trends, cuisine, markets, museums and people that make Tokyo the city of wonder that it is. Tokyo during the day provides peeks into how the history of Japan has evolved to fit the ever-changing needs of generations, while Tokyo at night can take you to bars, restaurants, and dives that will take you back a few decades or more. The colors, sights and sounds will be sorted for you, so that you can explore the city while being sure to encounter places of significance. You will see the true Tokyo behind the flash and glitz.

Day 7 - Tokyo

We wish you pleasant travels as you leave this land of the rising sun, bidding farewell to the city of endless wonder. We hope that you are taking with you wonderful memories of the times you had here, and hope that you can return one day to continue your adventure of discovery. Farewell from all of us at Windows to Japan, and sayonara.
