Marvel at the colonial architecture, see what inspired two of Mexico’s greatest artists, meet local chefs and taste the finest of the area’s cuisine. You will be welcomed into the homes and shops of local artisans.


Day 1 – San Miguel de Allende

Upon arrival, you will be privately transferred to your hotel located in the heart of captivating San Miguel de Allende. Take advantage of the amazing spa at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende or spend the remainder of the day at leisure.


Day 2 – San Miguel de Allende

Today you will participate in a private Full Day City and Artisan Studio Tour & Casa Dragones Tequila Tasting. Your personal expert private guide will meet you at your hotel this morning to start your day exploring the colorful historic center of San Miguel de Allende. You will visit the iconic central plaza, where locals come to gather and chat under the shade of the trees before going inside San Miguel’s famous pink church (Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel) that boasts gothic‐style architecture.

Next, you will visit art galleries and contemporary art studios at “La Aurora” and also prepare for an experience that will allow you to observe firsthand Mexican artisans working on their art and crafts, visiting the Institute of Culture to observe the students working on their art pieces. Admire the traditional and unique process of how rugs are made using wool, in the workshop of a local family’s home. Depending on time and interest you may also be able to visit the Cultural Center of Arts School, a paper mâché shop and the handicap artist studio of arts and crafts. This experience will be custom designed according to availability of the artisans and based on traveler’s particular interests.

Early this evening you are invited to experience tequila tasting in Casa Dragones, home to one of the finest, premium tequila brands of Mexico. After a short 2 blocks walk (on your own) you will visit the historic 17th century Casa Dragones house to attend a private tequila presentation and degustation, discovering the unique qualities of this limited edition, hand crafted Tequila!


Day 3 – San Miguel de Allende

You will be met at your hotel at 6am by your private guide and driven to your awaiting hot air balloon. From here, your experienced pilot will give you a short safety briefing before you head up into the sky. Watch the sun rise as you glide over the streets, houses, treetops, and churches, getting a unique view of the city as it starts to awaken. Don’t forget your camera for this rather unique experience. Once your return to earth, you will be driven back to San Miguel for a post-flight breakfast and sparkling wine toast.

After breakfast your expert bilingual guide will take you to visit the Cañada de la Virgen archaeological zone for a half-day visit. Cañada de la Virgen was occupied by the Otomí between 540 and 1050 C.E and is the northernmost Mesoamerican site to be found and excavated in Mexico. The Otomí placed great emphasis on the solar system so all of the structures are aligned with the planets and the sun. As you continue the exploration you will learn about the archeological insights and remaining mysteries surrounding them.

Back at your hotel, enjoy time to relax before spending the rest of your evening exploring the town and visiting one of the many amazing eateries the city has to offer.


Day 4 – San Miguel de Allende

All of Mexico is known for its open markets with their endless stalls of everything that is deliciously unique about Mexican culture and cuisine. San Miguel de Allende, a small colonial town with a cosmopolitan and international slant, has both a traditional market as well as a new concept market housing all the local, sustainable and organic fair that the region has to offer. Today’s tour, Mercado a Mercado, a Culinary Walking Excursion from Traditional to Contemporary Food Markets, will take us from the traditional market to the new organic market. We’ll first try boiled fresh chickpeas and fresh tamales and learn about dried chilis. Then walk thru the heart of town with a few sweet and savory tasting stops along the way at the churro factory, a wine shop featuring local wine and onto an artisan chocolate shop all on the way to the new market. At our destination, you will enjoy a cheese tasting crafted by some of the best cheese makers in the area. You will complete your meal by selecting from many of the fine choices there such as the organic salad bar replete with fresh veggies harvested that day or enjoy crepes made with mesquite and amaranth flours.

Please note the estimated walking distance for the full experience is approximately 2 miles. If participants prefer not to walk or reduce walking distances, a private transportation service can be optionally arranged.


Day 5 – San Miguel de Allende

Meet your guide and private driver in the hotel lobby to begin your full day gastronomic experience. First stop is the San Miguel Organic Market where you will be introduced to Chef Carlos Segura. Walking the market with the chef, you’ll learn all about local, organic farming and produce and enjoy a visit to the “Doña Polita” Organic Farm to see how these delicious ingredients are grown. Arriving at the Cuna De Tierra Vineyard, you will be captivated by the beautiful landscape and architecture as you prepare to sample some of Mexico’s best wines and gastronomical delights.

You will meet the winery’s Sommelier at a private reception for a glass of wine atop the contemporary tower with stunning views of the vineyards. Then climb aboard a drawn carriage for a short, guided tour through the vineyards. End the ride at the winemaking area with an in-depth explanation of the production methods and processes. The culinary journey continues with a private cooking class under the guidance of Chef Carlos Segura in Cuna de Tierra’s kitchen. You’ll learn how to transform all the selected ingredients from the market into world‐class dishes as well as learn the basics of proper food and wine pairing. Enjoy a four‐course meal and the fruits of your labor at a private table in the charming dining room area.


Day 6 – San Miguel de Allende

Your private bilingual guide will meet you at your hotel to begin your full day excursion in the colorful, colonial city of Guanajuato. First you will visit the tree‐filled plaza of Guanajuato where many locals come together to relax and talk. You will then drive on to Dolores Hidalgo (55km, 1 hour) the heartland of the Mexican Independence movement. As you explore the streets, churches and museums you will learn more about Mexico’s history and the important moments that lead to the country gaining independence from Spanish rule. Your day will also include a visit to the town’s vibrant market and you will explore local ceramic and tile workshops. Just before the end of your visit, you will have the chance to sample several exotic sorbets that are popular in the area. Upon completion of your tour you will be driven back to your hotel in San Miguel de Allende.


Day 7 – San Miguel de Allende

Today your private driver will transfer you back to Leon airport for your departure flight home.
